Fergus Scottish Festival Championship
& Highland Dance Competition

Championship

Trophies are computed based on six places & individual awards will be given to a maximum of six placings. Over-all Trophies to three places with cash awards to Champion, First Runner-Up and Second Runner-Up.

Individual Prize Money to two sections
Adult: $125 / $110 / $95 / $80 / $70 / $60
Senior: $100 / $75 / $50 / $40 / $30 / $20

Highland & National Competition

Awards on both days will be to two places less than dancers entered to a maximum of six placings. Trophies computed to six placings. No Trophy in Primary.

COMPETITION RULES

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

  1. The Championship and competition will be governed by the rules of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing (S.O.B.H.D.).  Competitors MUST SHOW a current S.O.B.H.D. registration card.
  2. There will be NO REFUNDS of entry fees or advance sale admission tickets.
  3. Manual Entries must be paid by cheque or money order made payable to the Fergus Scottish Festival.  No Post-dated cheques.  NSF cheques will be subject to an additional $10.00 fee.
  4. One dancer per entry form.  Manual Entries must go through Canada Post Regular Mail.  Entries that necessitate being picked up at the post office or at a courier will NOT be accepted.
  5. Classes will be divided after entries have been received.  The Fergus Dance Committee reserves the right to combine, split or delete classes after the close of entries.
  6. Decision of the judge(s) is final.  No discussion or correspondence can be entered into between a judge and a competitor or the parent or legal guardian of a competitor regarding any decision made by the judge(s).
  7. Any complaint must be in writing with the complainant’s signature, accompanied by $10.00 and given to The Fergus Dance Committee (prior to the end of the competition) for consideration.  The fee will be forfeited if the complaint is not upheld.
  8. Dancers must compete in their appropriate section and will dance in inverse order of entry. Dancers must dance in numerical sequence or be disqualified.
  9. Dancers must remain in appropriate costume for awards.
  10. IMPORTANT. No status (category) changes will be accepted the day of the competition. If status changes after entry submitted, please notify Elizabeth Smith, as soon as possible at fergusdancers@sympatico.ca. Last day for status change is Monday, August 9. If status change received before closing date, dancers will be in correct category and in order of entry. THIS APPLIES TO BOTH ON-LINE AND MAIL IN ENTRIES.
  11. This is a two-day competition – category status will remain the same both days. Age as of August 14, 2010.
