The Fergus Scottish Festival Special feature Author Series presents lectures and book signings by the world famous Diana Gabaldon writer of the Outlander and Lord John Grey Series, winner of numerous International book awards including the prestigious Quill Award. Also the renowned  Hugh Robertson  and company from Historic Scotland, History Channel and film also a   feature, storyteller, Scottish historian, re-enactments and  sword fighting specialist. “Lord of the Dance” Commemorative Lecture.  The Life and Times of John Allan Cameron: special appearances by both Stewart and Angela Cameron. Sing along to “Lord of the Dance”. Lyrics and will be provided in The Genealogy Centre.

Journalist Rob Reid lecture on topics related to Celtic Spirituality and Celtic music; Lynn Boland Richardson author/ historian, speaking on Dunvegan castle, Isle of Skye’s Fairy Flag and recent archeological discoveries and changes at Culloden Battlefield, Scotland.  The ever popular Heavy Events Hall of Fame with featured Mr. David P Webster O.B.E., author, strength specialist and athletes available throughout the weekend to sign autographs and answer questions; Scottish athletic Hall of Fame lectures by George Chiappa and Rev. Dr. Kevin Fast, (Guinness World Book of Records /Ripley’s, Discovery and .Daily Planet feature); Musical piping  interludes by The Campbell BrothersSine(Sheena) McKenna,  Celtic Heritage Programs , teacher and performing artist  will present an interactive teaching workshop on Gaelic and Gaelic song. Participants will be introduced to basic Gaelic vocabulary and phrases through the medium of language-learning songs, some of which Sine has composed herself Lecture by special guest from Edinburgh Scotland, Lord Jamie Sempill. Lecture title: From Flodden to Culloden…a Family perspective. Jamie is Director of The Gathering 2009 Ltd, a company which has been set up to promote the first major International Clan Gathering to be held in Edinburgh.

Historical interpreters, genealogical research; artisans include Rob Knox sculptor, Susan Callan, potter and various artist working within the venue.  Other displays include the many uses of the plant Heather. Scottish stamps, Scottish dogs and Culloden Battlefield new archeological discoveries. Fund raising raffle for Culloden battlefield re-construction at the Culloden display table. Win a signed set of Diana Gabaldon’s books.

Rev. Dr. Kevin Fast 4 time Guinness World Book of Record and Ripley’s Believe It or Not feature will present an interactive lecture titled: “How to pull 63 tons, Toss a Caber and Throw Your weight around!!!”… And other interesting things! Kevin Fast, a successful athlete competing again this year in the Fergus Scottish Festival Heavy Events is also one of the world’s strongest men. On May 12, 2007 in Coburg, Ontario Kevin fast pulled 63 tons 100 feet in just over one minute. The Daily Planet, Discovery Channel coverage and presentation of this event will be shown during Kevin Fast’s lecture. Mr. Fast will also appear throughout the weekend at the athlete’s autograph table situated in front of the Heavies Hall of Fame. See Kevin and athletes from around the world compete on the Heavies field throughout the weekend.  Saturday and Sunday in the afternoons the professional athletes will compete.  World Strong man and Scottish professional athlete Jamie Barr, also from Scotland Bruce and Stephen Aitken. From the U.S. World Champion Ryan Vierra, Harrison Bailey III, Sean Betz and Dave Brown. >From Canada, Canadian Champion Greg Hadley from the East coast, Joel Thiessen from the west coast, Christoph Wand from Ontario. An additional athlete will be announced at the games. Women’s, amateur  and masters competitions will be  held on Saturday and Sunday mornings featuring athletes such as Kevin fast, locals Warren Trask and Steve Clark and athletes from as far away as Switzerland.
