Fergus Scottish Festival 2005 Tattoo
The Tattoo is a traditional outdoor spectacle of music, light and action on the Main Field on Friday, August 12th, 2005, starting at 7:45 pm, starting with the Twilight Concert featuring Tony McManus at 7:00 pm. Pipe bands, the rallying of the Clans and a moving tribute to the Homeland. The audience is encouraged to pay tribute to the Scottish homeland with a beautiful candle “Lightin” ceremony by purchasing Tattoo Candles. The effects of dusk, smoke, candlelight and the castle backdrop plus the haunting cry of the bagpipes combine to produce a magical show. Join us for this traditional Tattoo - truly an evening to remember.
Participating in this year's Tattoo is Tom Leadbeater. After the conclusion of the Tattoo, head to the Sleemans Highland Pub at 10:30 pm to enjoy the Celtic and Scottish music of Hunting McLeod.
The Preston Scout House Band features more than 120 members: about 60 horn players, a percussion section of 40 and about 20 guard members. Scout House is one of Ontario's largest and most popular drum and bugle corps. The band originated in 1938 as an activity for members of the 1st Preston Boy Scout Troop and became an independent organization in 1954. During 30 years of competition from 1939 to 1967, the band won more than 80 major provincial, national and international awards. The Fergus Pipe Band was founded in 1927 and has over 30 members and students playing in one performance band and two competition bands. The Grand Celtic Pipe Band made its debut performance in 2000. Led by Pipe Major Calum MacDonald, the band consists of over two dozen dedicated players, from young beginners to seasoned veterans, who focus on competitive pipe band performance, improving skills and having fun.
